USDC soon available on six new blockchains

While the cryptocurrency market has plunged investors into a phase of boredom, the cryptocurrency sector continues to evolve at a steady pace. Circle, the company behind one of the best-known stablecoins, the USDC (USD Coin), has announced the arrival of stablecoin on six new blockchains during September and October 2023.

  1. Firstly, these developments towards six new blockchain ecosystems come on the heels of the launch of the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), as well as the arrival of "Web3 Services" and "Programmable Wallets" by Circle. This initiative enables developers to build on a solid foundation of confidence in stablecoin. In addition, USDC, already available on nine blockchains, demonstrates Circle's ongoing commitment to ever wider accessibility. Finally, this multichain distribution offers users a simpler, more secure experience.

  2. Let's take a closer look at the blockchains that will benefit from USDC support:
  3.

- Base is an open and secure Ethereum Layer 2 solution, incubated at Coinbase, aiming to integrate the next million developers and billions of users on the blockchain in a user-friendly way, while emphasizing decentralization.

- NEAR is a high-performance blockchain designed for the development of decentralized applications (dApps), offering simple user integration with fast, low-cost USDC transactions, enabling developers to introduce stablecoin payments into their dApps developed in JavaScript or Rust, improving accessibility to the Web3 world.

- Noble is an appchain specialized in issuing native assets on Cosmos and Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC), which aims to simplify the ownership and transfer of assets within the IBC ecosystem for a frictionless user experience, enabling many appchains to access USDC issued on Noble via a simple and secure IBC integration.

- Optimism is a Layer 2 blockchain developed on Ethereum whose mission is to bring greater scalability with fast, secure transactions. Using Optimistic Rollup technology, Optimism improves transaction throughput, meaning USDC transactions will be faster and cheaper.

- Polkadot is a scalable platform for Web3 that facilitates an internet in which independent blockchains and their applications are able to transmit transactions and information in a decentralized way through the Polkadot Relay Chain. Circle plans to introduce the USDC into the Polkadot ecosystem through the parachain Asset Hub, promoting the decentralized exchange of the USDC within Polkadot's independent blockchains.

- Polygon PoS (Proof of Stake) is scalable and complements Ethereum's decentralized security, guaranteeing the ability to develop dApps capable of reaching the public while maintaining decentralization.

Note that developers already have the opportunity, via Circle's documentation portal, to explore and develop their testnet integrations with the USDC. In addition, discussion and Q&A sessions on these new features are available on Circle's Discord channel.

  1. Finally, the introduction of the USDC on six new blockchains reflects the continuing evolution of the cryptocurrency and blockchain landscape, reinforcing the growing trend in the adoption of stablecoins and cryptocurrencies in general. This initiative illustrates the drive to further integrate cryptocurrencies into various blockchain ecosystems, paving the way for new possibilities of use, exchange and development within this constantly evolving universe. With the USDC as an example, cryptoassets continue to spread and diversify, shaping the financial and technological future as blockchain becomes increasingly embedded in our financial and digital daily lives.
